You should not because there is probably good reason why you can not. But there are also maybe " bad reason " like for some oppressed peoples, if you have lost your local firewall administrative rights, .... We have put in place a special configuration to deal with this "problem". The published solution is not a guarantee to work for all of the users according to the users network configuration, but you may try it with the agreement of your network administrator or network proprietary.
The trick is the following: Instead of doing a normal configuration between your jabber client and our jabber server on the conventional TCP port ( 5222 ), we offer the possibility to force your jabber client to connect our jabber server on the 80 TCP port which is in general open for normal web browsing.
To configure this you MUST force manual connection into your jabber client with the following data:
- jabber hostname : "xmpp443.jabber.lu" ( instead of "empty" or "im.jabber.lu" by default )
- TCP port : 443 ( instead of "empty" or "5222" by default )
Remark 1: we are not responsible of the use that you do of this trick. Once again it is proposed only to help you if you are totally blocked. It is your own responsability to use this method. We invite you to ask your local administrator and network proprietary before any use of the method.
Remark 2 : This service can be down from time to time. Just contact us.
