JABBER is :

A decentralized network of instant messaging services. ( You can run your own server.)

A set of stable standards for real-time communications, published by the IETF and the XMPP Standards Foundation.
As a conclusion JABBER gives you freedom of conversation.
You should use JABBER - XMPP protocol because :
- is OPEN - in an other word there no closed, hidden technologies here. Everything is open to inspection and correction.
- is decentralized. You can run your own jabber service, or use one of the existing public services. ( You can also ask for a jabber hosting at NETGINE web site or to any jabber hosting. )
- is secure - We respect your privacy and work hard to ensure that Jabber technologies are as secure as possible.
- is free - You don't have to pay to use Jabber protocol.
